In a world driven by self-promotion and moral confusion, the call of the Three Angels’ Messages to “Fear God and Give Him Glory” cuts through like a bolt of lightning. It’s not about being scared. It’s about waking up—to purpose, to truth, and to something bigger than ourselves. This message isn’t old news—it’s God’s urgent call for right now.
You’ve probably noticed it—something is shifting in the world. The ground feels unsteady. Institutions we once trusted are cracking. Voices shout for our attention from every direction. But amid the chaos, a voice from heaven breaks through in Revelation 14:7:
“…Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come...”
This isn’t just poetic prophecy. It’s an urgent, present-tense message. It’s part of the First Angel’s Message—a global call sent from heaven itself for these final moments of Earth’s history. But what does it really mean to fear God? And how do we give Him glory in a world that’s more interested in glorifying itself?
Let’s unpack this together.
What Does It Mean to Fear God?
The word “fear” can throw people off. At first glance, it sounds negative—like being afraid of punishment. But in the Bible, especially in prophetic and poetic literature, the phrase “fear God” carries a much richer meaning.
Proverbs 9:10 tells us:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom...”
It’s not terror. It’s reverence. It’s awe. It’s putting God in His rightful place—above our politics, preferences, pride, and priorities.
To fear God means:
Respecting His authority over our lives.
Recognizing His holiness and responding with humility.
Trusting Him fully, even when His ways challenge ours.
It is to love Him, to trust Him and to believe in Him. It’s a relational reverence—one that transforms how we live.
Why Fear God Now?
Revelation 14:7 emphasizes the urgency of fearing God because “…The hour of His judgment has come…” Not will come—it has come.
This means we are living in the time of Heaven’s final investigative judgment—a teaching rooted in the sanctuary message.
Since 1844, as described in the prophecy of Daniel 8:14, Jesus has been ministering in the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary, reviewing the lives of those who have claimed His name.
This judgment isn’t about fear in the horror-movie sense—it’s about accountability, mercy, and justice. God is setting things right. And the call to “fear Him” is an invitation to align our hearts with His, before probation closes.
Let’s make this practical. What does “fearing God” actually look like in everyday life?
It means living with eternity in view. It means:
Choosing obedience when compromise is easy.
Honouring God in how we speak, dress, and treat others.
Prioritizing His Word above human opinion.
Submitting our will to His even when it costs us comfort or popularity.
The book Steps to Christ page 44.2 puts it beautifully:
“There are those who profess to serve God, while they rely upon their own efforts to obey His law, to form a right character, and secure salvation… Such religion is worth nothing.”
Fearing God means surrendering control—allowing Him to reshape our character from the inside out.
Is Giving Glory More Than Just Praise?
The second part of the message says: “…Give glory to Him….”
We might think of singing songs or saying “praise the Lord.” While those are good, giving God glory goes much deeper. In Scripture, giving God glory is about how we reflect His character—in our bodies, our choices, and our witness.
1 Corinthians 10:31 says:
31 “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
So yes—what we eat, how we treat our bodies, the way we work, speak, rest, and love—all of it can either give glory to God… or draw attention to self.
Giving God glory is a lifestyle.
An emphasis on healthful living is not legalism, but it’s a way to honour our Creator.
It’s why we seek to reflect God’s character of love and integrity in every interaction.
It’s why our mission matters—because the world needs to see the glory of God through His people.
So why does this message matter more than ever?
Because we live in a time when reverence has been replaced with irreverence. When people glorify self instead of God. When casual spirituality is the norm, and truth is treated as optional.
This message speaks to the heart of modern culture—and turns it upside down.
Here’s what it’s confronting:
The lie that we are our own authority.
The first angel’s message says: Fear God, not man.
The lie that life is about self-glory.
The first angel’s message says: Glorify Him, not yourself.
The lie that God is irrelevant or distant.
The first angel’s message says: His judgment has come—He’s active, present, and calling us to wake up.
So how do we live this out?
Here are a few simple steps:
Ask God daily to give you a heart that reveres Him.
Make time to behold His majesty in His Word. Reverence grows when we see Him clearly.
Confess and surrender areas where self has been on the throne.
True fear of God means dethroning self.
Choose to obey even when it’s hard.
Every choice to honour God strengthens the muscle of reverence.
Live transparently.
Knowing we are living in the judgment hour should lead us to honesty, humility, and repentance.
Remember: Fearing God is not fear of rejection. It’s awe of His love. It’s standing in wonder that the King of the universe invites us to walk with Him.
There’s a blessing in fearing God. It’s not a burden—it’s a path to peace and power.
Psalm 25:14 says:
14 “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.”
God shares His heart with those who honour Him.
And Proverbs 19:23 says:
“The fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction…”
This is not fear that paralyzes—it’s fear that anchors you in a storm-tossed world.
God’s call to “fear Him and give Him glory” is more than a prophetic announcement. It’s a personal invitation.
He’s not looking for religious robots or fear-driven followers. He’s calling for hearts in awe of His holiness, surrendered to His love, and committed to His glory.
This is the kind of worshipper God seeks—especially now.
Eternity is calling. Will you respond with reverence, surrender, and trust?
In the next video I’ll help you understand the judgment in the First Angel’s Message. Is it good news or bad news?
At 3ABN Australia Radio, we believe truth still matters. And the first angel's message is truth worth sharing.

The Three Angels Messages reveal that fearing God isn't about terror—but trust, surrender and truth.
